The challenge
Every Thursday Kilnworks shipped a week of changes from 900 services at once. When something broke, finding which change did it took most of Friday.
The approach
The platform team rolled the Rheostat SDK into their service template, so every new service shipped behind a flag by default, then moved the old ones over in batches of fifty.
The result
Deploys went from weekly to continuous. Change failure rate fell by nearly three quarters, and Friday became an ordinary day.
